Abstract
TiN microcoils were prepared by the vapor phase nitriding of TiC microcoils (indirect process) and direct titanizing/nitriding of carbon microcoils (d irect process). The preparation conditions and some properties were also de termined. In the direct process, the carbon coils were titanized/nitrided a t the same time from the surface of the coils to the core with full preserv ation of the coiling morphology at 1000 degrees C for a 6 h reaction time, forming TiN microcoils or microtubes. The bulk electrical resistivity of th e TiN microcoils was 0.1 to 0.01 Omega cm, depending on the titanized ratio and the bulk density. (C) 2000 The EIectrochemical Society. S0013-4651(99) 01-076-9.
