Herein we report the successful dispersion polymerization of acrylonitrile
in carbon dioxide using a block copolymer consisting of polystyrene and pol
y(1,1-dihydroperfluorooctyl acrylate) as a stabilizer. Submicron-sized poly
acrylonitrile particles were obtained. The initial concentrations of acrylo
nitrile and the stabilizer and the reaction pressure had some effects on th
e resulting size of the colloidal particles.
