We report the results of the time-resolved emission spectra and the decay c
urves, concerning the important green emission transition at 544 nm (D-5(4)
-->F-7(5)). Five other transitions at 489 nm (D-5(4) --> F-7(6)), 585 nm (D
-5(4) --> F-7(4)), 620 nm (D-5(4) --> F-7(3)), 674 nm (D-5(4) --> F-7(2)) a
nd 648 nm (D-5(4) --> F-7(1)) of Tb3+: (La,Y)PO4 and (La,Gd)PO4 were measur
ed to understand the influences of the wavelengths of excitation, in emitti
ng green color from these two novel phosphor materials. It was observed tha
t the spectral features possess sharp and bright emission for potential app
lications on the monitors of the television and some other related electron
