Abstract
The polymorphism of the D6S2414 microsatellite located in the HLA locus on chromosome 6p21.31 was studied in healthy individuals (N = 153) and patient s with diffuse toxic goiter (DTG, N = 78) from Moscow. Nine alleles ranging from 160 to 192 nt and containing 5 to 13 tetranucleotide repeats were fou nd. The frequencies of alleles 7 and 8 were significantly higher and those of alleles 5, 6, and 12 were lower in DTG patients than in controls. The tw o groups also significantly differed in the frequencies of seven genotypes. This suggested the association of D6S2414 and its vicinity with DTG in the Moscow population.
