Abstract
In Hansenula polymorpha, integrative plasmids become replicative as a resul t of capturing chromosomal fragments that contain HARS providing for their autonomous replication. A similar structural instability was observed at a low frequency in H. polymorpha replicative vectors. Most of the fragments c aptured acted as promoters and sustained autonomous replication.
