Abstract
Affinity sorption of the HeLa nuclear protein on d(pGpT)(6), d(pApC)(6), or their duplex immobilized on a matrix revealed several proteins, some bindi ng with the duplex only. Sorption of some proteins was suppressed by an equ ivalent amount of d(pApC)(6), suggesting their general affinity for single- stranded oligonucleotides rather than specific binding. Treatment of cell n uclei with photoreactive d(pGpT)(6) resulted in modification of seven chrom atin proteins. Of these, only a 67K protein specifically bound with all sor bents.
