M. Shurgalin et al., Angular momentum transferred in inelastically scattered P to S state electron-atom collisions, AIP CONF PR, 500, 2000, pp. 436-441
Coherent laser preparation of atoms has been employed in superelastic and i
nelastic electron scattering from the excited 3(2)P(3/2) state of sodium. T
his allows Atomic Collision Parameters to be deduced for the 3S to 3P and 3
P to 4S transitions respectively. By employing micro-reversibility, a long
standing proposal relating the sign of the transferred angular momentum to
the sense of energy transfer has been tested, and is not supported in gener
al by experiment.
