Abstract
The crystal structure of a new potassium fluobismuthate(III), K3Bi2F9, was determined. The crystals are trigonal: a = 6.545, c = 19.333 Angstrom, rho( calcd) = 4.905 g/cm(3), Z = 3, space group R32. The structure is formed fro m the polymeric anionic [Bi2F9](n)(3n-) layers and K+ cations, which are un ited into a three-dimensional framework by electrostatic forces.
