Abstract
Methods of preparation and properties of nanointercalates and some nanostru ctured materials are reviewed. Particular attention is paid to inorganic-or ganic nanointercalates obtained by exfoliation of layered inorganic materia ls. Mechanical, electrical and optical properties of nanostructured systems especially those involving polymers are discussed in more detail. The revi ew is closed with the author's personal point of view on future aspects of nanoscience. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science S.A. All rights reserved.
