Nanocrystals of bis(ethylenedithio)tetrathiafulvalene (ET) polyiodides in p
olymer matrices were obtained using different methods of crystallisation un
der limited diffusion conditions. Broadening X-ray diffraction (MID) lines
and atomic force microscopy (AFM) confirm the decreasing size of the crysta
ls. The positions of the W-Vis absorption maxims are practically the same;
IR peaks show a small shift of the CT band as compared with microcrystallin
e layers. Raman spectra and XRD show that, even above 390 K, alpha-ET2I3 is
formed in contrast to beta(co)-ET2I3 phase microcrystals formed above 370
K in solution. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science S.A. All rights reserved.
