The Reynolds number is interpreted as the ratio of phase volumes for the ma
croscopic and microscopic motions of molecules. Effect of the second virial
coefficient on the critical Reynolds number was predicted and experimental
ly verified. The measurements were performed in a Hagen-Poiseuille flow of
