Abstract
Our studies on K beta/K alpha X-ray intensity ratios of some of the technol ogically important 3d-transition metal compounds have been reviewed. Compar ison of the experimental results with single-configuration Dirac-Fock calcu lations provided important information on the valence states of the transit ion metals in various compounds, which can be helpful in understanding the nature of bonding in the compounds.
