Abstract
A new method for the determination of triphenyltin (TPhT) in sea-water is p roposed. The method is based on solid-phase extraction (SPE), reaction with flavonol in a Triton X-100 micellar medium to yield a fluorimetrically act ive derivative and excitation-emission fluorescence measurements. TPhT was quantified by an alternating least squares (ALS)-multivariate curve resolut ion (MCR) procedure and a single synthetic standard. In order to select the optimum conditions for the analysis, the procedure was assessed using synt hetic samples. With the proposed method, TPhT was quantified in sea-water s amples at low ng l(-1) level with an overall prediction error of around 12% . (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
