Abstract
Hydrochlorothiazide (HCT) is a medicine commonly used as a diuretic. A seri es of HCT-imprinted polymers were prepared using 4-vinylpyridine or methacr ylic acid or none as a functional monomer. Liquid chromatographic analysis using the polymers as a stationary phase showed that 4-vinylpyridine was su itable for synthesizing HCT-selective polymers. It appeared that the sulfon amide groups on HCT molecule could interact with 4-vinylpyridine through io nic interaction, and thus could be used as a functional group for molecular imprinting. The prepared HCT-specific polymers should have applications fo r clinical analysis of HCT.
