Bryophyma debilis (Krauss, 1896) is a rare Cyrtacanthacridinae species that
has a disjunct distribution in parts of Africa south of the Sahara, where
it occurs principally in areas of wooded savanna. The West African populati
on of which taxonomic status is not clearly established, is described in so
me details based on material from Yagma, Ouagadougou region in Burkina Faso
. Morphological and anatomical characters are given to characterize the sub
-species recorded in West Africa, as a preliminary contribution for a revis
ion of the intraspecific complex.
