Abstract
The biology of the glassy-winged soldier bug Hyaliodes vitripennis Say (Het eroptera: Miridae) was the subject of a three year study, as was its predat ion potential on certain pests of apple orchards in Quebec. As well in comm ercial orchards (semi-natural conditions) as in caged apple trees (semi-nar ural conditions), H. vitripennis showed a significant repressive effect on the European red mite (Panonychus ulmi) and, in one case, on the twospotted spider mite (Tetranychus urticae).
