Abstract
Arterial cannulation of the innominate artery for cardiopulmonary bypass of fers the advantage of central cannulation with standard cannulating techniq ues when the ascending and arch aorta are unavailable (eg, redo, aortic dis section, aneurysms). It avoids the difficulties associated with a second in cision (axillary artery cannulation) and retrograde perfusion (femoral arte ry cannulation). (C) 2000 by The Society of Thoracic Surgeons.
