The first astronomical measurements of the J(k) = 18(2)-18(1), 19(2)-19(1),
and 20(2)-20(1) E transitions of methanol (CH3OH) are presented. A rotatio
nal temperature T-rot = 170(13) K was determined for the Sgr B2N-LMH core b
y combining the data from the J(k) = 13(2)-13(1) and 17(2)-17(1) E transiti
ons. The total column density of CH3OH is N-T(CH3OH) = 4.2(6) x 10(17) cm(-
2), and the fractional abundance of CH3OH is X(CH3OH) approximate to 4 x 10
(-8). The H59 alpha recombination line and a new unidentified line were det
ected.
