Abstract
Trachinotus carolinus (Linnaeus, 1766) is reported for the first time from northern Argentinean waters, substantially farther south than its usual are a of occurrence. Morphometric and meristic characteristics of the seven spe cimens are provided. The infrequent occurrences in this region of fishes wi th tropical and subtropical affinities is discussed.
