The Longling-Lancang fault zone, consisting of sets of en echelon or cluste
red faults, is a newly-generated rupture zone. It is characterized by the d
istribution of active faults, earthquake faults and earthquakes in zones. F
ormed in the Early-Middle Pleistocene, still active in the late, it moves d
extrally and extensionally. It tends to cut off the locked segments and dis
continuous segments at first, then pervades totally along the zone, accompa
nied by strong earthquakes.
