The laser extensometry was used to evaluate the focal deformation beha
viour in injection moulded PA6- and PA66-composites as a function of t
he fibre content under quasi-static tensile loading. Using this techni
que the local and time dependent deformation behaviour can be analysed
in the interested zones of the specimen. Through comparison between t
he integral and local mechanical properties, the heterogeneity of the
materials was diagnosed. The applicability of the laser extensometry o
n investigating the fibre-adhesion behaviour was examined. Under focal
strain controlled testing the deformation behaviour can be expectantl
y better characterised than under integral strain controlled testing.
