Abstract
This paper investigates a general yield surface originally proposed by Zien kiewicz and Pande. Some useful modifications are made for two classes of yi eld surfaces (hyperbolic and elliptic), and the elastic viscoplastic bounda ry element formulation for incorporating the model is presented.
