M. Dellmann-jenkins et al., Young adult children and grandchildren in primary caregiver roles to olderrelatives and their service needs, FAM RELAT, 49(2), 2000, pp. 177-186
Expansion of the family to four generations has resulted in a new populatio
n of caregivers to elderly members: young adults. Our study provides both q
uantitative and qualitative findings on children and grandchildren (N = 43)
, aged 40 years and younger, serving as the major source of support to an o
lder relative(s). Intervention strategies for professionals in direct conta
ct with this age group are outlined.
