Abstract
In this paper, we show that the fuzzy logic system presented by Wang and Me ndel (1992) is a linear expansion of the fuzzy rule base if fuzzy events ar e represented by triangular basis functions. Therefore, based on linear reg ression theory, we propose a direct approach for constructing a fuzzy logic system from input-output data. The effectiveness of this approach is demon strated by simulations. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
