Abstract
We fabricated the core of a 10 000-channel brondcast-and-select system and demonstrated the feasibility of its operation over 20-km transmission. The 10 000 channels Here composed of 32 wavelengths with 310 subcarriers, and t he bit rate of each channel was 20 Mbit/s. Consequently, the total throughp ut amounted to 200 Gbit/s by using wavelength-division multiplexing and sub carrier multiplexing technology, This sg-stem can be applied to networks th at provide broad-band multicast/broadcast services.
