Abstract
Measurements of specific enthalpy increments for propan-1-ol are reported. A countercurrent water-cooled flow calorimeter was used to measure 85 entha lpy increments over the temperature range (423.2 to 573.2) K at pressures f rom (0.1 up to 11.3) MPa. Extrapolation of the gas phase measurements to ze ro pressure gave values in excellent agreement with pure component ideal ga s enthalpies calculated from spectroscopic data. Values of the specific ent halpy of vaporisation derived from the measurements are in agreement with o ther work and are well fitted by a modification of the Watson equation. A m ethod for the calculation of the two phase enthalpy-pressure envelope is de scribed. (C) 2000 Academic Press.
