Abstract
This study assessed the sensitivity and specificity of the five-position gr ip strength test (5PGST) for detecting feigned hand weakness in healthy vol unteers. The 5PGST reliably detected feigned hand weakness in only 15% of c ases. Thirty-three per cent of volunteers demonstrated an entirely normal p attern of grip strength when feigning weakness.
