Pg. Pickup et al., Electronically conducting cation-exchange polymer powders: synthesis, characterization and applications in PEM fuel cells and supercapacitors, J NEW M E S, 3(1), 2000, pp. 21-26
The chemical syntheses and properties of seven conducting polymer/polyanion
composites are reviewed, and results on the use of two of these materials
(PPY/PSS anti PEDOT/PSS; PPY = polypyrrole, PSS = poly(styrene-4-sulphonate
), PEDOT = poly(3,4-ethylenedionythiaphene)) in supercapacitors are present
ed. Use of a conducting polymer/polyanion supported catalyst in a proton-ex
change membrane fuel cell is reported for the first time. Four of the compo
sites (PPY/Nafion, PEDOT/Nafion, polyaniline/PSS and poly (3-methylthiophen
e)/PSS) are previously unreported as chemically synthesized powders.
