Abstract
We show how the free-energy landscape of a system, normally used only for c alculating its equilibrium phase diagram, can be used to predict the kineti c pathways that are permitted in the course of phase separation. Applicatio ns to one particular soft condensed matter system, a colloid-polymer mixtur e, are briefly described.
