Fe-57-Mossbauer spectroscopy (MS) measurements at room and liquid nitr
ogen (LN) temperature were recorded for Co Al1-xFex (0.05 less than or
equal to x less than or equal to 0.5) system. The MS shows a splittin
g for x greater than or equal to 0.2 at room temperature and for x gre
ater than or equal to 0.05 at LN temperature. The average magnetic mom
ents per formula unit (FU) were calculated within a simple local envir
onmental model for the three possible atomic site occupancy of this sy
stem, i.e. B-21, B-22, and B-23, CsCl-type structure. The contribution
to the magnetic moments by Fe and Co atoms were also calculated and c
ompared with values estimated using the hyperfine field values as obta
ined from the present MS and previous magnetization results.
