The thermal decomposition kinetics of the solid complexes Cd(S2CNR2)(2), wh
ere R=C2H5, n-C3H7, n-C4H9 or iso-C4H9, was studied by using isothermal and
non-isothermal thermogravimetry. The superimposed TG/DTG/DSC curves reveal
ed that thermal decomposition reactions occur in the liquid phase. The kine
tic model that best fitted the experimental isothermal TG data was the one-
dimensional phase-boundary reaction-controlled process R-1. The thermal ana
lysis data suggested the thermal stability sequence Cd(S2CNBu2n)(2)> Cd(S2C
NPr2n)(2)> Cd(S2CNBu2i)(2)>Cd(S2CNEt2)(2), which accords with the sequence
of stability of the apparent activation energies.
