Abstract
This article focuses on the growth of Jabotabek, Indonesia's capital agglom eration consisting of Jakarta, Bogor, Tangerang and Bekasi, which will hous e approximately 19 million people at the end of this century. Similar to ot her Third World megacities, Jabotabek's development is based on interaction s between migration and internationalization, which is reflected by a drama tic change of both rural and (sub)urban employment facilities: three decade s of SUHARTO's 'New Order' policy have made Jabotabek the focus of both nat ional and international investment.
