Abstract
A new keratinophilic species, Chrysosporium fluviale sp. nov., isolated fro m river sediments in Catalonia, Spain, is characterized by having small, sl ender and verrucose conidia borne on slightly swollen conidiogenous cells. Morphological and molecular characters obtained by sequencing of the corres ponding ITS-5.8S rDNA regions and of the RFLPs support the separation of Ch yrsosporium fluviale from the morphologically closest C. evolceanui, C. ind icum and the Chrysosporium anamorph of Arthroderma curreyi.
