The developments presented at ICSF3, the 3rd International Conference
on Spray Forming, confirmed the belief expressed by Professor John Woo
d in the last issue of PM that spray forming wilt in the near future l
ose its 'novel' designation and become, accepted as a standard method
of alloy processing. Major strides towards full scale production of sp
ecial steels and superalloys were reported, together with developments
in the established production of ferrous tubes and aluminium and copp
er billet.
