Large, optical quality mixed HgBrxI2-x single crystals were grown by the Br
idgman-Stockbarger method. Their principal refractive indices n(g), n(m) an
d n(p) were measured at room temperature for the first time, using the clas
sic method of minimum angle of deviation in the visible region of the spect
rum. The crossing angles of the optical axes were calculated and the parame
ters of Sellmaier's dispersion equation were determined. (C) 2000 Elsevier
