This article reports results from the first large-scale studies on the
gender wage gap for the three countries Norway, USA and Sweden. The r
esults show a very small wage gap between men and women working in the
same establishment and in the same occupation. The observed gender wa
ge gap is due to the fact that men and women work in different establi
shments and in different occupations. Women work in low payed occupati
ons and establishments whereas men work in high payed occupations and
establishments. The reported results are in accordance with findings i
n all three countries.
