B. Quinet, NASOPHARYNGITIS WITHOUT ANTIBIOTIC-TREATM ENT - WHAT SHOULD THE CLINICAL FOLLOW-UP BE AND WHICH SYMPTOMS ARE PREDICTIVE OF COMPLICATIONS, Medecine et maladies infectieuses, 27(4), 1997, pp. 362-366
Nasopharyngitis is the most frequent viral infection during childhood
and infancy. Clinical symptoms disappear within a few days when evolut
ion is uncomplicated, The main complications are bacterial superinfect
ions, such as acute otitis media and sinusitis. Improved survey and re
duction of unnecessary antibiotic treatment can be achieved by a bette
r knowledge of the disease, of the frequency of complications and of t
heir predictive symptoms. This data should be explained to parents.
