Heteroligand Zn(4,4'-Bipy)(i-PrOCS2)(2) and Zn-2(4,4'-Bipy)(ROCS2)(4) (R =
i-Pr, i-Bu, or i-Amyl) compounds were synthesized. Single crystals of the Z
n-2(4,4'-Bipy)(i-PrOCS2)(4) . CH2Cl2 solvate were grown and X-ray structura
lly characterized (CAD-4 diffractometer, MoKalpha radiation, 1582 F-hkl, R
= 0.0397). The crystals are orthorhombic: a = 17.013(1), b = 21.673(2), c =
22.242(2) Angstrom; V = 8201(1) Angstrom(3); Z = 8, rho(calcd) = 1.478 g/c
m(3) space group Fddd. The structure is built from the discrete binuclear Z
n-2(4,4'-Bipy)(i-PrOCS2)(4) molecules and the CH2Cl2 molecules. The coordin
ation polyhedron of Zn (C.N. 5) is a tetragonal pyramid formed by four S at
oms of two bidentate-chelate isopropylxanthate ligands and the N atom of a
bidentate-bridging 4,4'-Bipy ligand. The CH2Cl2 molecules are located in th
e cavities formed by the atoms of the Zn-2(4,4'-Bipy)(i-PrOCS2)(4) complex.
The IR spectra and the thermal analysis data are presented.
