On the population ecology of the gray plover in the northern Yamal Peninsula

The demography of the gray plover was studied using color banding at a stat ionary control plot in the northern Yamal tundra for seven years. Data on t he dynamics of nesting density, fertility, breeding success, and site tenac ity are presented. Cases of polygyny and the absence of nesting are describ ed. Factors affecting population dynamics are discussed.
