Abstract
A new zinc(II) complex [ZnL2. 2H(2)O] with pyrazinecarboxylic acid (HL) was synthesized. Its crystals are present regularly shaped transparent rectang ular prisms of monoclinic syngony, The main crystallographic parameters det ermined at 298 K are: ZnC10H6N4O . 2H(2)O, a = 10.309(2), b = 11.097(2), c = 5.265(1) Angstrom; beta = 99.45(3)degrees, V = 594.1(1) Angstrom(3), Z = 2, space group P2(1)/c. The crystal-chemical structure of the complex was d iscussed. The two L- ligands are planar and exhibit bidentate coordination with the zinc atom, The oxygen atoms of the two water molecules complete th e octahedral surrounding of the zinc atom.
