Abstract
Microwave activation accelerates heterocyclization of o-phenylenediamine wi th phenylacetic acid with benzyl cyanide tens times, simultaneously improvi ng the yield and quality of the resulting 2-benzylimidazole. The effect of microwave activation on heterocyclization of ethyl(phenyl)malonic acid with formic acid or its amide is not so strong.
