Abstract
Adsorption interaction between Catapol, an antiseptic with a broad-spectrum activity, and samples of microcrystalline cellulose of various natural ori gins was studied. Similarities and differences in the kinetics of adsorptio n and desorption processes on samples obtained from cotton and wood cellulo se as well as from bagasse and reed celluloses were revealed. Scanning elec tron microscopy was used to show that Catapol intercalates into cellulose f ibers both from their surface and from butt ends.
