Vm. Yakovlev, Relation between the solid-liquid interphase energies and the effective interaction parameters in heteronuclear metallic composites, RUSS MET R, (4), 1999, pp. 141-146
The possibility of determining the interphase free energies in two-phase bi
nary metallic systems from experimental data on the integral reaction chara
cteristic is considered. For pairs of solid and liquid metals characterized
by similar properties, a relation between the interphase free energy and t
he mutual-exchange energy analogous to the Stefan formula is approximately
satisfied. With marked differences between the surface energies of the init
ial simple materials when the dimensional factor is not dominant, an expres
sion allowing the temperature dependence of the interphase energy to be tak
en into account may be employed.
