Studies on coordination compounds of organotin(IV) with Schiff bases of amino acids

The present paper describes the syntheses, characterization of some new coo rdination compounds of organotin(IV) with Schiff bases derived by condensat ion of heterocyclic ketones and amino acids, viz, glycine, beta-alanine, al pha-valine, alpha-isoleucine and alpha-tryptophan, The newely prepared comp ounds have been characterized by elemental analysis, conductance measuremen ts, molecular weight determinations, infrared and nuclear magnatic resonanc e (H-1, C-13 and Sn-119 NMR) spectral studies. An trigonal bipyramidal geom etry has been proposed for all of the complexes. A few representative ligan ds and their tin complexes have also been screened for their antibacterial activities and found to be quite active in this respect.
