Abstract
TbAl3Cl12 was synthesized and the crystal structure was determined from sin gle crystal X-ray diffraction data for the first time, The compound crystal lizes trigonally in space group P3(1)12 with a = 10-49.8(1) and c = 1567.3( 2) pm. Terbium cations are located in quadratic antiprisms of chloride anio ns, Magnetic measurements were performed to study the interactions between Tb3+ and Cl-. Magnetic data were interpreted by ligand field calculations a pplying the angular overlap model.
