Abstract
Magneto-optical materials such as TbFeCo are used for data storage in a wid e range. Especially the perpendicular magnetic anisotropy is necessary for high density recording. But the origin of the perpendicular magnetic anisot ropy in these magneto-optical layers is not exactly known. In our experimen ts magneto-optical layers were implanted with heavy ions, with the aim to c hange the magnetic behaviour of these layers. After the implantation there is a dramatical change in the magnetical and mechanical behaviour, too.
