Spontaneous surface magnetisation of single crystal MnF2 in the antiferromagnetic state

Spontaneous magnetisation of (100) and (010) surfaces of a MnF2 single crys tal in the antiferromagnetic state is discovered. A sign of the surface mag netisation is determined by a difference in dielectric constants epsilon of MnF2 and ambient matter: magnetisation is directed to the substance with a smaller epsilon.
