Abstract
We demonstrate narrowing of a 2 W, broad area laser diode array and present calculations of the resulting improvement of Xe-129 polarization by spin e xchange with laser optically pumped Rb vapor. This improvement significantl y impacts both medical imaging with laser polarized noble gas and spin-exch ange pumped noble gas maser research. (C) 2000 American Institute of Physic s.
