Abstract
New pheophorbide and pyropheophorbide derivatives containing carbohydrate f ragments, derivatives of galactopyranose, were synthesized. Galactopyranosy lpheophorbide and galactopyranosylpyropheophorbide with free hydroxyl group s were found to be water-soluble and useful as sensitizers in photodynamic therapy of cancer.
