Abstract
After converting nonlinear equations to linear equations for seismic tomogr aphy, inversion methods can be reduced to solve ill-posed equations. The ph ysical meaning of inversion solutions is an unknown subsurface geological s tructure. Therefore, it is very important to study the reliability and reso lution of a solution. Many inversion methods cannot give a criterion for as sessing the solution, so the reliability of the solution is suspected. Base d upon the resolution of solution an assessment criterion of covariance mat rix of solution is put forward for LSQR algorithm. Correlation analysis can provide a quantitative assessment to the inversion methods that cannot obt ain resolution matrix. This assessment method is used to a velocity constru ction images for a real crust model.
